Intercooler:

5/01 - None.

5/02 - Spearco Front Mounted Intercooler - The intercooler acts as a giant cooler for the compressed air charge before it gets rammed into the intake. It is mainly used to keep the air charge cool so it doesn't cause pre-detonation of the air/fuel charge, which causes things such as rods and pistons to make big holes in the side of the block.

5/04 - Nothing has really happened with the pressure pipes as of yet but I have been planning out my next move as far as re-routing them to get them away from the bottom of the motor. As of now my plan is to do some modifying of the cast adapter pipe that comes off the compressor side of the turbo and run the pipes over the top of the transmission and down between the radiator and then back into the same basic path that it currently follows to the intercooler. The reason behind this is because the pipes are the second lowest thing on the car to the ground and risk getting ripped off if I were to just barely clear something on the road or where ever. I will probably have the pipes powder coated too to make them look a little better since they will kind of be out in the open and I have a line on a powdercoating service that can do quality work and not charge an arm and a leg.

6/04 - This past week I got the BOV flange welded to the upper pressure pipe just before the throttle body, hooked up the BOV, and I connected the rest of the vacuum hoses.

9/04 - Over the winter I will be working on the IC pipes to get them sorted out and possibly powder coated (undecided on if I want to do that or not) but I know I am definitely spending the money on the silicone couplers and t-bar clamps to keep the darn things from blowing off (not a problem yet but it will be as the boost is increased).

10/04 - I took some measurements for the IC pipes a week ago and I will be working on redoing my IC pipes over the winter. Yeah I like to complain about how I hate working on cars in the winter but I do it every year and will probably keep doing it. Stay tuned for progress on this also......

5/05 - The intercooler pipes have been blowing off lately so a few weeks back my brother and I took them all off and flared out the ends to prevent them from blowing off. The future fix for this will eventually be to have the pipes redone completely and have them welded and powder coated to make them look better. The diesel truck hoses will be replaced with silicone couplers and the ends will be bead rolled to prevent the couplers from sliding off while boosting.
